An excitement score ranks every car the camera can show: close battles, the leader and class leaders, front-running and recent incidents. When a shot has been on air long enough, it cuts to the best-scoring car. Anti-repetition spreads the coverage around the field.

Automation always yields to the operator. Cut a camera yourself and the Auto-Director steps back for 30 seconds, with a countdown and Re-engage now in the title bar. Pause 30s does the same on purpose, and Back returns to the shot it just left.
Point it at the story you are telling: constrain it to a class or one car, or favour a driver, car or team and set how hard it pulls. Click any row on the timing board to cut to that car.

Commentating and producing at the same time leaves nobody on cameras. The Auto-Director takes that job, and the incident log behind it puts every logged incident one click from its replay.

Yes. Add the driver, car, team or class to the selection. Constrain covers only the selection; Favour keeps the whole field and pulls the camera towards it, up to a total lock at 100%.
Does it handle cautions and restarts?
It follows the race state through cautions, restarts and the finish, and you can give each situation its own camera type.
Does it show why it cut?
Yes. The title bar narrates what is on air and what comes next, with the reason, such as a battle and its gap.
